Bridal FAQ’s


The Experience Upon visiting Aglow Bridal Lounge, you will be greeted by a bridal consultant and shown some of the gowns we carry. We will ask you some basic questions such as your style, budget and how you want to feel on your big day. We will encourage you to browse the racks and see if there are styles that catch your eye. If you are unsure of what you want, we are always there to offer our support and suggestions specifically for you. Once you have tried on a few styles and get to know what you like and don’t like, we may offer some suggestions to help you find the perfect gown. Take your time and don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles.

Our Change Rooms   Aglow has three spacious change rooms on the main floor plus a very spacious private bridal suite for you and your chosen guests.  Enjoy in room water and specialty treats to keep you hydrated and having fun.

Finding The Dress You have found a dress that works for you and you feel like a million bucks. You will have the opportunity to show your dress to your entourage in our beautiful dress viewing area, where you can stand on a pedestal and see every angle of your dress. From there, If you say “yes to the dress” we celebrate! We will measure you and order your correct size. Expect to wait a minimum of 5 months for your gown to arrive in store. Some designers do offer rush services, but there may be a fee. When your dress arrives at our store, it will be professionally steamed and put in a breathable garment bag, ready for you to take home.  Congratulations! We will provide you with a list of excellent seamstresses in Kamloops if alterations are needed.


Wedding dress shopping can be a bit different from other shopping.  So your appointment is just as fabulous as your wedding dress, here are a few pointers for making the most of your time with us.

Do I need an appointment?

If you would like to visit Aglow Bridal Lounge on a Friday or Saturday for wedding dress shopping, we recommend you try to make an appointment with us.  These days can book up well in advance and we never like to disappoint.  Walk-ins are always welcome if any of our bridal suites and a stylist are available.  We welcome browsing and can usually accommodate last-minute weekday appointments.  You can make an appointment by calling us at 250-572-2359 or via the website.

What should I expect?

Our appointments last for around an hour to an hour and a half, which is the perfect amount of time to try on all your favorite dresses without feeling rushed.  Your bridal stylist will be there with you to help you make your selections and to try them on.  We suggest wearing a good strapless bra if possible.  It’s amazing what a difference good underwear makes to the fit of a dress, so don’t be afraid to bring your Spanx with you either!  We ask that you refrain from wearing excess make-up and self-tanner to your appointment.

Can I bring friends and family to my appointment? 

You are encouraged to bring as many family and friends to your appointment as you would like.  Our brides say they prefer to bring at least one person with them to be a part of this special experience.  We recommend no more than five guests for a more personal and enjoyable experience and find that the opinions of a trusted few always make for an easier decision for the bride.

What is the price range of your dresses?

At Aglow Bridal Lounge we have a dress for every bride no matter what the budget.  We offer regular priced dresses ranging from $400 – $3,500 and our sample sale dresses can start at as little as $200.

Do I get to pick the dresses I try, or will my stylist pick them for me?

Yes you get to pick out the dresses you will try!  Looking through the beautiful gowns at Aglow Bridal Lounge is the best part of the gown shopping experience!  You will also have your own personal and knowledgeable bridal stylist that will help you with your gown selection and suggest styles for you to try.  Don’t be afraid to try something suggested to you that you never would have picked yourself.  You never know ….. it could be THE ONE!

When do you suggest I order my wedding gown?

Most designers take 5-7 months to make your wedding gown, so once you factor in shipping time and alterations the process can take around 6 to 9 months.  Don’t worry if your wedding date is sooner than this.  Most designers offer a Rush Service. Whenever possible, we suggest ordering your wedding gown at least six to nine months before your wedding date.

My wedding is in a few months… can you still help me?

Though you may not be able to choose from every dress we have in-store, we do have dress options that are available on a short turn-around time and some off-the rack dresses that are available to purchase and take with you the same day.

Do you carry plus size dresses?

Yes, we have a beautiful selection of plus size dresses.

Will alterations be required?

When ordering your wedding gown, we take all your measurements and order your dress as close to your current size as possible, but all bridal gowns need alterations to give it a perfect fit for your wedding day.  We don’t offer in-house alterations as we think this is best left to the experts,  but we will happily provide you with a list of highly experienced seamstresses in our area.

What is a trunk show?

We carry a curated selection of wedding dresses from each of our designers.  During a trunk show a larger portion or the complete line from a particular designer is made available to our store and a discount is granted.
